This is an incredibly rare and unique fortified wine, a Ratafia de Champagne from a Grand Cru house. Unlike Champagne, Ratafia is a still beverage, made by adding eau-de-vie to unfermented grape must, then aging in oak. This 'Vieille Expression' (Old Expression) reveals a stunning complexity of dried figs, caramel, and candied orange peel, with a wonderfully rich, unctuous texture.
